Question: Why do we need to convert the files?

As you just saw, you could open the file you just downloaded in Media Player and it plays just fine. So, why would you need to bother converting it?

If you view the properties of the file in Media Player and look at the 'Licence' tab, you'll see that there is a time limit on how long you can play the file for (just 6 days).

Furthermore, if you try to play the file in another application, it will look like a garbled mess. This is because the file is protected with DRM (Digital Rights Management).

So, we need to convert the file with an application which will remove this DRM. Video Converter Ultimate is the easiest program to do this.

Many BBC iPlayer programmes stream in DRM-ed WMV format. Due to the DRM protection, you can only keep the downloaded programmes for 30 days and once watched, you need to finish watching it up to 7 days. Furthermore, you can't play the videos on unsupported devices like iPhone, iPad, iPod, etc. Because of this, you may need to convert BBC iPlayer WMV to MP4/AVI for playing on your portable devices without time limitation.

To convert protected BBC iPlayer to DRM-free MP4/AVI,a DRM converter is needed. Here we strongly recommend Aimersoft DRM converter, an all-in-one DRM remover and video converter. With it, you can fast strip DRM protection from downloaded BBC iPlayer WMV files and convert them to MP4, AVI, FLV, MOV, MKV, ASF, etc. as you like. Besides BBC iPlayer programmes, it can also crack DRM from protected video and audio files bought from iTunes, Amazon, Zune Marketplace, Windows Media Center, etc. Now download this program and follow the guide below to complete converting BBC iPlayer to AVI/MP4.
