A Feed the Beast FTB modpack is a collection of Minecraft community modifications (Mods) used to extend the look and feel of vanilla Minecraft.
If you’re new to Modpacks and Feed the Beast you’ll need to install the Launcher first. A launcher is what Installs, updates, and plays modpacks on your computer or a multiplayer server. In 4 easy steps install, launch & connect to your FTB server.

This guide will explain how to install the FTB Launcher & connect to a FTB server

1. Download the Feed The Beast Launcher

1. Visit the Feed The Beast website here :
   http://www.feed-the-beast.com/
2. Click the “Legacy Windows” link below the button
3. If you’re a Mac or Linux user click the text links
4. The FTB Launcher will be saved to your download folder
5. Create an ‘FTB’ folder, then move the downloaded file there
6. Click to start the launcher

I just recently got off a Terraria kick, and to play that, I needed a Mac Wrapper for it. Now, I'm trying to play FTB, but the packs won't download. I got the.jar launcher from the Feed the Beast site, but when I try launching a modpack, it will get stuck with the 'Downloading' part. 2. Adding your Minecraft User to the FTB Launcher

1. Find the drop-down menu at the bottom of the Launcher
2. Select ‘Create Profile’ from the drop-down
3. Enter your Minecraft Username/Email Address and Password
4. Change the profile name
5. Untick ‘Remember Password’ if you’re using a public computer
6. Click the ‘Add’ button

3. Launching a Modpack

1. Click on the ‘FTB MODPACKS’ or 3RD PARTY PACKS tab
2. Choose a modpack in the list on the left
3. If you need to run an older (or) beta version of a Modpack, click on the drop-down at the top with ‘Recommended’ and select the version of the modpack you want
4. Select your user profile using the drop-down at the bottom
5. Click the ‘Launch’ button to install the modpack
6. Once the FTB modpack is installed it will start automatically

4. Connecting to your FTB server

1. Click on ‘Multiplayer’
2. ‘Click Add Server’
3. Enter a name for your server in the ‘Server name’ box
4. Enter your server details into the ‘Server Address’ box, this is in the format {IP Address}:{Port}, e.g. 255.255.255.255:25565
5. Click ‘Done’, your server will be added to the list
6. Double-click the server to join it

Hint : The number one reason for connection problems is when the modpack’s server and launcher versions don’t match, make sure the version number in the server list matches the one on the launcher. If not change the launcher version or contact support for a free server upgrade.

Make sure the modpack version in the launcher and server match, if they don’t match you’ll have a connection error when you join.

The Direwolf20 modpack is a Feed The Beast and CurseForge modpack designed by Direwolf20 for Minecraft 1.7.10. This pack is maintained and created by the FTB Team, and is considered a FTB modpack. Direwolf20 uses this on his Season 7 Modded Minecraft YouTube Let's Play series, which started on the 1^st of November, 2014.
